Sarah LaBrie grew up in Houston, TX and graduated from Brown University in 2007 with degrees in Comparative Literature (French, Spanish) and Literary Arts. She is a second year MFA candidate in Creative Writing at New York University, where she was one of three incoming students to be awarded a Writers in the Public Schools Fellowship in 2011. As a WIPS fellow, Sarah volunteered with the Teachers and Writers Collaborative in the New York public school system, organizing poetry and fiction workshops for second and fifth graders at the Florence Nightingale School. For the 2012-2013 school year, Sarah will teach introductory creative writing at NYU. She has also worked on the staff of NYU’s Writers in Paris program, where she assisted in the general daily maintenance of the university’s study abroad program for undergraduate fiction writers and poets.

Sarah’s fiction has been published in the literary journals Epoch and Encyclopedia Vol. 1. A-E. Her non-fiction appears in the LA Weekly and online for This Recording, The Hairpin and The Millions among other places.
