Professor William Tarpeh received his PhD from the University of California, Berkeley, in environmental engineering. He completed an MS in environmental engineering at Berkeley and a BS in chemical engineering from Stanford University. He is currently an assistant professor at Stanford University in the Department of Chemical Engineering. He leads the Tarpeh Lab, which develops and evaluates novel approaches to resource recovery from “waste” waters using novel materials and processes that incentivize wastewater collection and treatment. He has recently been featured on Forbes’ Under 30 Science List, the Root’s 100 Influential African-Americans, and an Early Career Award from the National Academies of Science.
